Request Your Event

The first step to hosting a KC7 cybersecurity event is surprisingly simple. The request form takes about 2 minutes to complete.

Overview

Requesting a KC7 event involves three simple phases: gathering basic information (2 minutes), submitting your request at kc7cyber.com/gameon, and receiving your approval within 1-2 days (often faster - check your email!) with all the links you need to run your event. This page walks you through what to prepare, what you'll receive, and how to get started.

Before You Request

Before submitting your event request, gather some basic information. You don't need detailed plans yet - just enough context to help us understand your event and provide the right support.

What You'll Need

Event Timing Think about when you want to hold your event. Weekdays typically work well for schools and companies, while weekends often suit community groups better. Don't worry about committing to an exact date yet - a general timeframe like "mid-March" or "early May" is fine.

Expected Attendance How many people do you expect? A rough estimate is perfectly sufficient - "around 25 students," "maybe 40-50 employees," or "15-20 community members" works great. The KC7 platform scales easily, so if your actual turnout differs, that's not a problem.

Organization Information Identify your organization clearly - your school name, company, community group, or other organizing entity. This helps us understand your context and provide relevant support materials.

Audience Description Briefly describe your participants. Are they high school students? Corporate employees? Community members? This helps us recommend the right approach and resources for your specific group.

First-time hosts: Don't overthink this. You're not committing to final details - you're just starting a conversation. Most successful hosts figure out the specifics after their event is approved.

Submit Your Request

Once you have that basic information ready, head to kc7cyber.com/gameonarrow-up-right and complete the request form.

The form is intentionally quick - most people finish it in under 2 minutes. We ask for:

  • Your contact information

  • Organization name and type

  • Expected event date (approximate is fine)

  • Estimated number of participants

  • Brief description of your audience

That's it. No lengthy proposals, no detailed lesson plans, no technical specifications.

After You Submit

Approval Timeline

After submitting your request, you'll typically hear back within 1-2 days (often faster - check your email!). Our team reviews each request to ensure we can provide the support you need and that your event is a good fit for the KC7 platform.

Most requests are approved quickly. We're excited to support cybersecurity education in all its forms - from small classroom experiments to large corporate training programs.

While You Wait

This approval period is a perfect time to start planning the logistics of your event:

  • Consider your format - Will this be in-person or virtual? Both work great with KC7.

  • Think about duration - Most events run 2-3 hours, but KC7 adapts to your schedule.

  • Identify your venue - A classroom, conference room, community center, or virtual meeting space.

  • Plan your schedule - What time works best for your participants?

You don't need to finalize anything yet, but thinking through these questions helps you hit the ground running once approved.

For more detailed planning guidance, check out our Planning Guide.

What You'll Receive

When your event is approved, you'll receive an important email with everything you need to run your KC7 event. Save this email - it contains your key links and credentials.

Your Host Dashboard (Intro Page)

Your Host Dashboard (kc7cyber.com/intro/XXXX) is your private control center - your mission control for the event. This is where you'll:

  • Watch introductory videos to share with participants

  • Access host guides and facilitation tips

  • Monitor participant progress during the event with live analytics

  • View the scoreboard and track engagement

  • Find troubleshooting resources and support

The Participant Link (kc7cyber.com/go/XXXX) is what you'll share with everyone joining your event. When participants visit this link, they can:

  • Create their KC7 account instantly

  • Access the game scenario

  • Start investigating immediately

  • Track their progress on the scoreboard

This is the only link your participants need. Share it widely - via email, on a slide, in chat, or however you communicate with your group.

Your KC7 Tenant

You'll also get access to your Tenant Dashboard - your organizational home base within KC7. Even if you're planning just one event right now, your tenant opens up future possibilities:

  • Create additional games with different scenarios

  • Set up multiple classrooms for different groups

  • Track performance and progress over time

  • Build ongoing cybersecurity education programs

  • Add co-hosts to help manage events

Many hosts start with a single trial event and grow into running comprehensive programs. Your tenant gives you that flexibility from day one.

For more about the tenant system, see our Tenant Guide.

Getting Started After Approval

Once you receive your approval email with all your links:

Step 1: Explore Your Host Dashboard (15 minutes)

Visit your host dashboard first. Watch the intro videos, read through the host guide, and familiarize yourself with the tools you'll use during your event. This preparation helps you feel confident and ready to guide participants.

Step 2: Test the Participant Experience (15 minutes)

Use the participant link to create a test account for yourself. Go through the sign-up process, read the opening scenario, and try a few questions. Understanding what your participants will experience helps you provide better support during the event.

Step 3: Finalize Your Event Details

Now that you have access to the platform and understand how it works, you can finalize:

  • Exact date and time

  • Venue or virtual platform setup

  • Invitation and communication plan

  • Any additional logistics or support needs

For detailed guidance on this phase, see our Pre-Event Setup Guide.

Common Questions

How long does approval typically take? Most requests are approved within 1-2 days (often faster - check your email!). If you need expedited approval for a time-sensitive event, mention that in your request and we'll prioritize it.

Can I request multiple events at once? For your first request, start with a single event. Once you have your tenant and have hosted successfully, you can easily create additional games yourself without needing approval for each one.

What if my event details change after approval? No problem! Most changes (date, participant count, format) can be handled flexibly. Your KC7 links remain valid regardless of these adjustments. If you need to make significant changes, just reach out to [email protected].

Is there any cost to request an event? KC7 events are currently free for educational and community purposes. We're committed to making cybersecurity education accessible.

What if I'm not sure about all the details? That's completely normal! Submit your request with the information you have. You'll work out the specifics during the planning phase after approval. We're here to support you through the process.
