Getting Started
What is a tenant?
A tenant is your organization's account in the KC7 system. It's the container that holds all your classrooms, games, participants, and data. You receive a tenant automatically when your first event is approved.
Do I need a tenant to run KC7 events?
Yes, but you get one automatically. When you request your first event at kc7cyber.com/gameon, we create a tenant for you. You don't need to take any extra steps.
Can I have multiple tenants?
Most organizations use a single tenant with multiple classrooms. If you represent truly separate organizations, contact [email protected] to discuss multiple tenants.
Is there a cost for my tenant?
All new tenants start on the STARTER tier at no cost. The STARTER tier includes:
Up to 10 classrooms
Up to 20 sessions (individual game instances)
Up to 100 students total across all classrooms
All core KC7 features and modules
This STARTER tier capacity is sufficient for most getting-started needs, including running your first events and exploring the platform.

Classrooms
How many classrooms can I create?
STARTER tier tenants can create up to 10 classrooms. This is sufficient for most getting-started needs and organizing multiple programs.
If you need more capacity:
PROFESSIONAL tier: 50 classrooms
ENTERPRISE tier: Unlimited classrooms

What's the difference between a classroom and a game?
A classroom is an organizational container (like a course). A game is a specific instance of a KC7 module that participants play (like an assignment). One classroom can contain multiple games.
Should I create a new classroom for each event?
Not necessarily. Create new classrooms when you're organizing truly different groups (different courses, departments, or time periods). Reuse classrooms for repeated events with the same audience by adding new games within the classroom.
Can I move a game from one classroom to another?
Not currently. Games are permanently associated with their classroom. If you need the same content in a different classroom, create a new game in that classroom.
What happens when I delete a classroom?
The classroom and all its games are permanently removed. Participant data is preserved if you export it first. This action cannot be undone. Consider archiving instead of deleting.

What are the tenant tier limits?
KC7 offers three tenant tiers to match your program's scale:

What are sessions? Sessions are individual game instances. This is different from classrooms (organizational containers) and represents actual playable game instances within classrooms.
All new tenants start on STARTER tier, which provides plenty of capacity for getting started and running initial events.
To upgrade: Contact [email protected] to discuss your needs and upgrade to PROFESSIONAL or ENTERPRISE tier.

How many games can I create in a classroom?
STARTER tier tenants can create up to 20 sessions (game instances) total across all classrooms. Each game you create counts as one session.
If you need more capacity:
PROFESSIONAL tier: 100 sessions
ENTERPRISE tier: Unlimited sessions

Can I use the same module multiple times?
Yes. Create multiple game instances from the same module for different dates, groups, or events. Each game has its own participants and analytics.
Can I change the module after creating a game?
No. The base module is locked once a game is created. If you selected the wrong module, create a new game with the correct module.
What's the difference between the game link and the classroom link?
The game link gives direct access to that specific game. The classroom link enrolls participants in the classroom, and they can access games based on auto-assign settings.
How long do games remain accessible?
Games remain accessible indefinitely unless you disable them or set an end date. Participants can return to completed games to review their work.
Users & Permissions
What's the difference between Tenant Manager and Classroom Manager?
Tenant Managers have full access to the entire tenant (all classrooms). Classroom Managers only have access to their assigned classroom(s). See User Roles for detailed permissions.
How do I add someone as a co-instructor?
Assign them the Classroom Manager role for the relevant classroom. They'll be able to manage games and participants in that classroom. Navigate to Users → Select user → Assign Classroom Manager → Choose classroom.
Can participants see other participants' answers?
No. Participants can only see their own progress and answers. They may see leaderboards (if enabled) showing rankings, but not detailed answer data.
What happens to a user's data if I remove them?
Their historical data and analytics are preserved. They lose access to the classroom/game, but their contributions remain in your analytics for record-keeping.
Can I bulk-add participants?
Yes. Use the classroom join link method for large groups, or import via CSV for structured data. See Managing Users for details.
Auto-Assign
What does auto-assign do?
Auto-assign automatically enrolls classroom members in a game. When enabled, anyone who joins the classroom is immediately added to games with auto-assign turned on.
Should I use auto-assign?
Use auto-assign when all classroom members should access the game (open enrollment, large groups). Disable it for selective access or future-dated games that aren't ready yet.
If I turn off auto-assign, are current participants removed?
No. Turning off auto-assign only affects future enrollments. Current participants remain enrolled. Manually remove participants if needed.
Can I auto-assign some games but not others in the same classroom?
Yes. Each game has its own auto-assign toggle. Enable for current games, disable for future ones you're preparing in advance.
Analytics & Data
How long is analytics data retained?
Indefinitely. All analytics data is preserved even if games or classrooms are archived or deleted (as long as you export before deletion).
Can I export my data?
Yes. Navigate to Analytics → Export. Choose format (CSV, PDF, JSON) and select what data to include. Both classroom-level and game-level exports are available.
Why aren't analytics updating in real-time?
Analytics typically update every few minutes. Refresh the page and wait a moment. If data is still missing after 5-10 minutes, check that participants are actively engaged.
Can I see which questions are hardest for participants?
Yes. Game-level analytics show success rates per question, number of attempts, and completion rates. This helps identify questions that need additional instruction.
Can I generate reports for stakeholders?
Yes. Export analytics data and use it to create custom reports, or use the built-in export formats to generate PDF reports directly from the platform.
Settings & Configuration
Can I customize the appearance of my tenant?
Yes. Upload logos, select colors, and customize branding in tenant settings. Classrooms can also have individual themes and imagery.
Can I set time limits for games?
Yes. In game settings, configure start/end dates and time limits. You can set per-question time limits or overall game duration limits.
Can I disable hints?
Yes. In game settings, configure hint availability, including disabling them entirely or adding point penalties for hint usage.
Can I create custom scoring?
Yes. Modify point values per question, add speed bonuses, or configure penalties for incorrect attempts in game settings.
Can I integrate KC7 with my LMS (Canvas, Moodle, etc.)?
Some integrations are available. Contact [email protected] to discuss LMS integration options for your specific platform.
Troubleshooting
Participants say they can't access the game
Check: (1) Game link is correct, (2) Game status is Active, (3) Participants are enrolled in classroom if using auto-assign, (4) Start date hasn't passed or hasn't arrived, (5) Password is correct if enabled.
I can't see analytics for my game
Verify: (1) Participants have actually started the game, (2) Your role allows analytics access (Classroom Manager or Tenant Manager), (3) You're looking at the correct game, (4) Analytics have had time to generate (wait 5-10 minutes).
I accidentally deleted something
Deleted games and classrooms cannot be recovered. Always export data before deletion. For critical data loss, contact [email protected] immediately to explore recovery options.
Auto-assign isn't working
Verify: (1) Toggle is ON in game settings, (2) Participants are classroom members, (3) Game status is Active, (4) Participant limit hasn't been reached.
I can't create a new classroom
Only Tenant Managers can create classrooms. If you're a Classroom Manager, you'll need a Tenant Manager to create the classroom for you.

Check your event approval email for the link, or go to kc7cyber.com, log in, and click your tenant name in the navigation.
How do I upgrade my tenant?
To upgrade from STARTER tier to PROFESSIONAL or ENTERPRISE tier:
Identify your needs: Determine how many classrooms, sessions, and students you need
Contact KC7: Email [email protected] with:
Current tenant name
Desired tier (PROFESSIONAL or ENTERPRISE)
Approximate scale you need (classrooms, sessions, students)
Your organization type and use case
Discuss options: The KC7 team will work with you to find the right tier and discuss pricing
Tier options:
PROFESSIONAL: 50 classrooms, 100 sessions, 500 students
ENTERPRISE: Unlimited classrooms, sessions, and students
Fee waivers available: If you're running events aligned with KC7's philanthropic mission and cannot afford upgrade fees, mention this when you contact us. We may be able to waive fees for eligible organizations.
Can I transfer my tenant to someone else?
Yes. Invite them as a Tenant Manager, then remove yourself. Or contact [email protected] for assistance with formal tenant transfer.
What happens if I stop using KC7?
Your tenant and data remain accessible indefinitely. There's no automatic expiration. If you want to formally close your tenant, contact [email protected].
Can I get help setting up my tenant?
Yes. Join the KC7 Discord for community support, or email [email protected] for direct assistance.
Best Practices
What's the recommended classroom structure?
Organize by time period (Fall 2024, Spring 2025) or by audience (Beginners, Advanced) depending on your program type. See Organizing Classrooms for strategies.
How should I name my games?
Use descriptive names with dates: "March 2024 - Valdoria" or "Week 3 - Advanced Module". Avoid generic names like "Game 1" or "Test".
Should I archive or delete old games?
Archive when possible to preserve data and analytics. Only delete if you're certain you won't need the historical data.
How often should I review user roles?
Review at least once per term/quarter, when staff changes occur, and after major organizational changes. Regular audits ensure appropriate access levels.
