📑Doing Your Homework

A little study goes a lot way when hosting an event

To be a good KC7 Cyber Competition host, you don’t need to be a cyber expert. But you, or someone helping you run the event, should be familiar with the exercises in the selected module.

The best way to get prepared to host a KC7 Cyber Competition is to play through the Competition yourself! Getting started is easy:

  • We recommend going through the "Scandal in Valdoria" Module: https://kc7cyber.com/modules/VALDY

  • This page will prompt you to register an account on the KC7 Scoreboard, if you don’t already have one.

  • To access the data in ADX, You’ll need to sign in with a Microsoft account (O365, outlook, hotmail, etc…). You can create one for free if you don’t already have one.

The Training Guide within the module will show you everything you need to know to play, so dive right in!

As you play, consider these tips:

  • Pay special attention to any queries that you found challenging or especially useful, as there’s a good chance your event participants may have the same issues.

  • Try answering all the questions, noting extra hard questions that participants may also get stuck on.

  • Think of “a-ha” moments you experienced while playing the game. Jot those down so you can share them with participants.

KC7 is mostly a self-guided exercise for participants, but you and your volunteers will need to help participants whenever they get stuck, especially at the very beginning. It’s a good idea for your volunteers to also prepare in advance by completing the selected module before the day of your KC7 Cyber Competition.
